Controlling the U.S. Senate

The Senate is currently controlled by the Republicans, with 51 Republicans, 48 Democrats, and one independent that votes with the Democrats. The Democrats can take control if they pick up a net gain of just one seat and Kerry wins, or two seats even if Kerry loses. And that will be tough, but it just might be possible. (more...)

A state-by-state analysis shows that Bush currently leads in 25 states with 213 Electoral College votes, with Kerry leading in 14 states with 169 votes - leaving 12 states with 156 votes up for grabs. It takes 270 votes to win. (more...)
