Gore Verbinski's began his career as an advertising executive, where he is also known as the creator of the Budweiser frogs. His 2003 film Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl was enormously popular with Cosmo voters, winning eleven nominations on its own - just enough for Verbinski to tie with Peter Weir for the final Best Director Cosmo nomination slot.
