A few years ago, Natalie Portman narrowly dodged a Worst Performance nomination for Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones. Her performance in the film can be laid at the doorstep of George Lukas; co-star Hayden Christensen, who did get a Worst Performance nod, previously received a Best Supporting Actor Cosmo nod for Life as a House and the following year very nearly a Best Actor nod for Shattered Glass.

Voters seemed split in determining whether her role in Closer was in a leading or supporting category, and she ended up being nominated in both. In addition, she earned a second Best Actress nomination for Garden State, for which she was also nominated for Intimate Actress. She also shares the Best Ensemble and Sexiest Ensemble nominations for Closer.
