Joan Crawford is probably best known to many Cosmo voters as the villainous Crystal Allen in the 1939 classic The Women (which has earned countless Cosmo nominations over the years), or as the subject of the adaptation of her adopted daughter's biography, Mommie Dearest. But during the career she appeared in 97 films and television programs, earning three Academy Award nominations and one Oscar.
At the Fifth Annual Awards, she received her first Best Actress Hall of Fame nomination.
