Though her acting career has spanned nearly two decades, all of Imelda Staunton's major acting nominations (save for an ensemble SAG Award for Shakespeare in Love, in which she played Viola De Lesseps' nurse) have been for her most recently released film, Vera Drake. The film was hugely popular in the United Kingdom, winning six of its seven BAFTA nominations. In the U.S., where the film had a more limited release, most of the honors have focused solely on her performance in the titular role. And that's the way it turned out at the Cosmos as well; the film's sole nomination is for Best Actress in a Leading Role.
