Glenn Close is one of the
most versatile and hardworking actresses in the U.S., with five
Oscar nominations (three consecutive), nine Emmy nomination (and
one award), seven Golden Globe nominations (and one award),
three SAG nominations (and one award), and three Tony Awards.
But her most popular role for Cosmo voters may well be her
leading role as the Marquise de Merteuil in the 1988 film
Dangerous Liaisons, which earned two Cosmo nominations
including Glenn Close's Hall of Fame win for Best Villain of All
Time (for which she tied with Anthony Hopkins for Silence of
the Lambs and Margaret Hamilton for The Wizard of Oz).
At the Fifth Annual Awards, she received
her first Best Actress Hall of Fame nomination. At the Sixth, she was nominated
for Best Support Actress for Heights.
