Cate Blanchett has received Cosmo nominations in every year of the history of the awards, including receiving a nomination for Best Individual Performance of All Time for Elizabeth, and being nominated in the second and third years to be inducted into the Best Actress Hall of Fame. Although she lost to Maggie Smith and Bette Davis respectively for that honor, she did win Best Actress for a 2001 Film for Bandits, tying with Amélie's Audrey Tautou. In 2003, she appeared again as the elven queen Galadriel in The Return of the King, the final installment of the Lord of the Rings trilogy, a role for which she shared a best ensemble nomination for Fellowship of the Ring and a win for The Two Towers. The role granted her two more ensemble nomination: best cast and sexiest cast. But more importantly, she was nominated for the third year in a row for induction into the Best Actress Hall of Fame. In 2004, she enjoyed a comedic supporting turn in The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou. But it was her supporting performance as the legendary Katharine Hepburn in The Aviator that earned her two more Cosmo nominations, allowing her to surpass Ian McKellen as the most-nominated person in Cosmo history.
