Honoring films released in the 2010 movie year

Yes, we know, and we're terribly embarrassed about it.

It's been a long time since we celebrated the Cosmique Movie Awards. After the awards celebrating the films of 2006, we took a little break. A break that turned out to be much longer than we planned. But now we're back and ready to honor the very best (and worst) films of 2010.

We may end up paring down some of our categories, perhaps combining some (like Heroic Male and Heroic Female character awards into a single Heroic Character award) while eliminating some of the technical categories (like Cinematography) and obscure categories (like Best Cameo) that we love but seem rather daunting to some voters. The sheer length of the ballot seemed to intimidate some of our voters, especially around nominations, but we also want to maintain some of the categories that gave us our own uniqueness -- categories like "Favorite Male Character You Would Most Like to be Intimate With" and maybe even "Favorite Guilty Pleasure" that allowed films of a lighter fare to do well.

There's nothing to do as yet except to head to the theaters (or Netflix), watch films with a recorded box office release in 2010, keep notes, and wait for us to announce voting in early 2011.
