The Prince and Me
This fairy tale is about to get real.
Directed by: Martha Coolidge
Starring: Julia Stiles,
Luke Mably, Ben Miller, Miranda Richardson
2004 Cosmique Movie Awards
When a Danish prince (Luke Mably) attends a Wisconsin university in order to experience life as a regular guy (albeit a regular guy with a butler in his dorm room), he falls in love with a career-minded American girl dead set on med school.
There have been so many modern fairy tales this year that we could actually have a Cosmo category for it. Julia Stiles may be one of the most improbable leads for this sort of subgenre, but her serious demeanor actually serves her well in "The Prince and Me." The film is completely predictable in almost every way, but is fairly satisfying nonetheless. It may not end up being a huge favorite at the Cosmos, but it could sneak its way onto the Guilty Pleasures list, and Luke Mably could be a very, very dark horse candidate for Intimate Actor (what teenage girl and gayboy hasn't fantasized about being romanced by a European prince?).
