What a plague turns victims into zombies, the survivors take refuge in a midwestern shopping mall.
I used to be very, very frightened by horror movies. It wasn't the blood and gore that got to me so much as the anticipation and suspense. Maybe I'm getting more jaded as I get older. Or maybe horror movies are getting less horrifying. In any event, I don't think I jumped a single time in this remake of the 1978 classic horror film.
Honestly, I'm not sure there was a good enough reason to remake this film at all. The new 2004 edition bring nothing new to the genre. It might squeak into my top five "Horror/Thriller" films of the year, but if so, only by default through lack of seeing enough others. I doubt it will make my list for any other categories other than perhaps "Worst Film" (not that it was so bad, but again, could end up there by default if I don't see enough other bad movies).
My Rating: 4
