Categories for the Fifth Annual Cosmique Movie Awards

The Fifth Annual Cosmique Movie Season, celebrating the best (and worst) films of 2004, will bring about several new categories, and a few slight revisions to some existing ones.

The Cosmique Movie Academy has reluctantly agreed to add another "negative" category after initially attempting to eliminate all of them entirely. This is somewhat offset by the new "guilty pleasure" category (which some may consider to be a sort of backhanded compliment) and three other Best Overall categories, all music-related. There are no changes to the performance categories, but Best Comedy/Musical has finally been split and two additional genre categories have been added.

Voters are encouraged to not only review this list, but also to review the description of each category and carefully ponder its scope. Some categories have a scope that is subject to interpretation; voters may need to decide for themselves in some cases how narrowly or broadly they choose to interpret the category's parameters.

The final winner of "Best Director" is determined by popular vote, as with all other Cosmo awards.
